My first anime con! Well sorta....

Went today to IMAF 05, which was, and till Tuesdat still been held at County Hall, near Waterloo in London.

The main event is a anime/manga inflenced animataion/art competion, some of the entries where bloody amazing. There's also screenings of various anime, I saw the first 3 eps of Planetes again, and it was just as good. I also saw the first ep of Peacemaker, which I probably get on dvd later.

There was also a trade section, which had ADV and MVM selling dvds, Blackwell who had set up a stall overflowing with manga, all 3 for 2, which also applies in store, as well as a Japanese make up company and a couple of toy/model shops. Sweatdrop studios (uk MIC company) where also selling GNs.

So what did I buy?
A lot....

lol

From Blackwell:
Fullmetal Alchemist vol 1-3
xxxHolic vol 4 and 5
.hack//ai buster (novel)

and from Sweatdrop:
fantastic cat vol 1

Best of all was the number of familes there, which made me smile, a bit.

Oh and some people cosplayed belive it or not

Jack Thompson

mm, I love this guy and his comments. He says we gamers are the idiots, yet he cant speak about gamers without resorting to name calling:
"Whom did CNN contact for a comment about Blitz: The League? They didn't contact Doug Lowenstein. They didn't contact the drooling cretins at Penny Arcade. They didn't even contact a single gamer, I guess because they wanted the truth.

They contacted Jack Thompson. Why? Because the "don't confuse me with the facts" gaming community (what's next, the marijuana community?) has nothing rational to say about the marketing of mature games to kids.

The purpose of the law in California is to say this: Parents, it is your job to make the decision on these games. We will not allow retailers to sell adult games to kids behind their parents' backs.

Wise up, gamers. The war was lost by you scofflaws a very long time ago. Even liberal CNN is on my side. Fondly, Jack Thompson

PS: Put down the controller and get a life!"

I already have a life Jackie boy, thank you very much. I think your the one who needs to get one.

Oh and your truth about Blitz was a big fat lie. The NFL didn't refuse to give a license to Midway, they have an exclusive deal with another publisher, a deal that has upset Midway, Microsoft and SEGA.

Oh, i do agree that the selling of aldut games to minors needs to be restrticed, maybe a ssytem like in the UK would work. If the game is rated 15+ or 18+ you have to show proof that you are that age, or else its no sale.

Anyway, if you do happen to come across my blog Jack, then please, comemnt away. Ill be glad to calmly talk this over with you.

To the twats on my msn list who think my MSN name is funny -

At least listen to the album in question before cracking jokes about it.

Laptop update - Giving dad my money towards it next week - ordering it same week

Cant wait.

I love Ottakars right now. Picked up one of the Doctor Who graphic novels for £1.49!!

Yay for Ottakars reward cards, even if did have that stupid have to spend more than £15.00 to use it thing (hence the weird cost, bought a bookmark to knock it over £15).

Looks like SkyWise (over on AoD) is going to have to eat his words about PAL conversions

Convo:
user1:
if you want it and are able to play PAL R2UK discs then my advice is to buy the UK release. Video quality is good but the main thing is that the Japanese audio isn't messed up like the US release.

skywise:
I thought the PAL release was a NTSC conversion?

user1:
if it is then they've done a bloody good job of it, I didn't see any problems at all. At the end of the day though, the UK release wasn't a botch job like the US release

OH NOES, his entire reason for hating UK dvds is now up in smoke, as someone says that the PAL conversion isnbt noticable!!!

OH NOES!!!

Quicky posty

Should be getting myself a new laptop soon. Hopefully. I do kinda need one.

Anyway some more dvds i got recently:

(seems like Planetes has a error on the cover, the age rating should be a 12 not PG, so if they have to recall it i have a LE!! in a way!)
